For students that have completed our Level I Computer Science course (or comparable experience), our Level II Computer Science course continues our exploration of application design and development using the Python programming language. More complex concepts are introduced, including:object-oriented programming, basic design patterns, file/data access. Students will develop full-fledged applications, both individually and in teams. Students should arrive with a Windows or Mac laptop with Python 3.x installed (if possible).

Be ready to amaze your friends and families with unique toys, pinball machines, interactive art works, and practical gadgets that you invent. 

HS Filmmaking Course

As a class, we look for common interests and cater to what the students are looking to learn. During the course, the students will learn the basics of visual storytelling, the importance of story, and together we will film a 1-3 minute “mini-movie”. On the last class, we will screen the film, and celebrate every student's hard work. Each student will also leave the class with a written concept for a project they can finish on their own.

Humanoid Robotics

What can humanoid robots do? Walk, talk, dance, sing..... and more! In this program, participants will program humanoid robots using EZ-Robot kits. They will learn to use commands and write programs (using RoboScratch or EZ-Script) to let humanoid robots perform singing, dancing, daily conversations and other interactions. They will also learn design thinking approach to create innovative uses of humanoid robots in everyday life.

If you’ve always wanted to “crack the code” behind the inner workings of those apps you use on a daily basis, then this course is for you. We use the Python programming language to gently introduce beginners to the art of software development. Our goal is to engage learners and hone their programming skills to a point where they are confident enough to continue further study on their own and put what they've learned to practical use. We start at ground-zero and methodically build up your knowledge with an emphasis on programming syntax, structure and flow control, while completing fun and challenging exercises that demonstrate programming in real life.

Introduction to Java Programming

Java is a general-purpose computer programming language that is widely used in mobile and web apps, many of which you are familiar with.  In this course, we will introduce you to Java and the concept of object-oriented programming using both text-editors and the visual, interactive framework of Greenfoot.  With Greenfoot, you will create actors which live in worlds in order to build games and other fun graphical programs.  We start at ground-zero and methodically build up your knowledge with an emphasis on programming syntax, structure and flow control, while completing fun and challenging exercises that demonstrate programming in real life.

Lego Mindstorms

Lego Mindstorms is a fun and engaging introduction to simple electronics and robotics using the Lego Minstorms EV3 platform.  The goal is to get kids creating fun and programmable robots while learning basic concepts, operations and terms.  By combining Lego lelments with a programmable brick, motors and sensors, kids can make their creations walk, talk, grab, think, shoot and do almost anything they can imagine.
